Calculate your ROI →FedEx has implemented updated U.S. international demand surcharges effective March 5–9, 2026, affecting both import and export parcel and freight shipments across multiple global zones. Key changes include $0.50 per lb export surcharges from the U.S. to Zones K, M, O, and South Africa, and $0.70 per lb import surcharges into the U.S. from those same regions, along with a $1.50 per lb surcharge on shipments between the U.S. and Israel in both directions. These demand surcharges apply to parcel and freight shipments, include minimum charges, and remain in effect until further notice.
FedEx has expanded its international demand surcharge structure for U.S. import and export shipments, targeting specific geographic zones experiencing elevated network demand or operational complexity. The changes apply to both parcel and freight shipments and are calculated on a per-pound basis, indicating potential cost pressure for shippers moving volume through affected global trade lanes. By applying these surcharges across multiple zones and key corridors such as Israel and several Middle East, South Asia, and Africa regions, FedEx continues to adjust pricing mechanisms to manage network capacity, demand volatility, and international transportation costs.
Shippers moving international volume to or from the U.S. may experience incremental cost increases depending on destination zone, particularly for shipments involving Israel or Zone K/M/O markets. Because these surcharges apply per pound and across both parcel and freight, heavier shipments and high-volume trade lanes could see a more pronounced cost impact. Companies with significant international exposure may need to revisit routing strategies, carrier mix, or pricing structures to manage the added surcharge burden. Shippers will see a 1% increase in fuel costs for the same packages with this update.
