Effective on or after May 4, 2026, UPS will impose a $5.00 per package Non-Compliant Label Fee on UPS Ground Saver packages if the customer fails to comply with the UPS Guide to Labeling Supplement – UPS Ground Saver or fails to use the latest version of an approved shipping system that meets UPS requirements at the time of shipment. This fits within the existing Ground Saver Terms and Conditions, which already require approved UPS automated shipping systems, current routing files, special USPS-readable Ground Saver labels, and compliance with the labeling supplement. The T&C also state that Ground Saver rates and charges may be changed on advance notice.
This is best viewed as a new enforcement charge attached to existing compliance rules, not a wholly new operating requirement. Section 11 of the Ground Saver Terms and Conditions already sets the core system and labeling requirements, while Section 10 gives UPS the right to change Ground Saver rates and charges on advance notice. What is new is the explicit $5 per package fee for non-compliance. Shippers should check with their AE for a copy of the actual labeling supplement.
Shippers should treat this as a clear accessorial risk. Any gaps in system version control, routing-file updates, or label formatting could now create recurring per-package charges. Before May 4, 2026, Ground Saver users should confirm that all shipping locations are using approved, current systems and compliant label formats.
💡 Effective on or after May 4, 2026, UPS Ground Saver shipments may incur a new $5.00 per package Non-Compliant Label Fee.
💡 The fee applies if the shipper fails to follow the UPS Guide to Labeling Supplement – UPS Ground Saver or fails to use the latest approved shipping system.
💡 The Ground Saver Terms and Conditions already require approved systems, current routing files, USPS-readable Ground Saver labels, and compliance with the labeling supplement.
💡 This is best understood as monetized enforcement of existing Ground Saver compliance requirements.
